Artists will create a variety of works inspired by comic heroes to literary to the anti-hero. By the end of the workshop you will have a series of works inspired by the characters of your liking and in a variety of art materials. All supplies are included. In this stop motion course, students will create their own stop motion short. They will script, design, and photograph their own pieces. On the last day of class we will view their final pieces at a class mini film fest. This class takes place over two weeks, with eight class meetings Monday through Thursday. We will utilize drawing, painting, and printmaking techniques to express student interest. There is an emphasis on student creative planning and studio thinking. Explore the medium of ceramic art under the magical theme of fairy gardens! In this class, students will create fairy houses, gnomes, garden artworks, and more. All student work is fired on campus and all materials are provided; no prior experience necessary. Note that some student work may need to be picked up at a later date to allow adequate time for firing the clay. For Grades 5-8. There is no supervision for continuing classes. Instructor: Ms. Green.

Are you interested in movies, history, games, or even sports? In Museum Maker, students work collaboratively as they conduct research to create mini-exhibits based on their own personal interests. Their exhibits will be displayed in our scale museum model, which contains museum pedestals, moveable walls, and hardwood floors! Students will create dioramas they can bring home to showcase their exhibits. We will create mini paintings, sculptures, prints, and more! For Grades 5-8. All materials included. The first stop on our journey are the cultures of ancient Mexico. We will draw inspiration from the mysterious Aztec ‘sunstone’, the giant stone heads of the Olmecs, and combine pop culture with pre-Columbian codices. Next, we take a look at the calaveras from Jose Posada and the influential muralism movement. Finally, we design color alebrije sculptures! Learn how to throw pottery on the potter’s wheel in our ceramics studio! In this class, students will create their own ceramic wares using wheel throwing techniques and finish their artworks with ceramic glazes. On the last day of class, we will have a mini gallery where families are invited to come to the studio and view student work. All student work is fired on campus and all materials are provided; no prior experience necessary. For grades 7 through 12. This is a two week class consisting of 8 instruction days. Supervision between classes is not provided.
