Kids U - Summer 2019 : Science Camp

Playing with your food can be more fun than eating it. What if you could do both? Make your own snack and learn the science behind it everyday. Come ready to learn, play and get messy.

Just look at the world around you, right here on the ocean floor. Come under the sea where we will explore the abundant life of the ocean. Discover how coral is made and how each animal survives. We will look at the different types of fish and what makes them unique such as: sharks, dolphins, clown fish, squid, stingrays, and many more!

Every good mystery solver needs a good forensic sciencetist. In this class we will look and see the different ways forensic scientists solve mysteries. You become the detective for the week.

In this awesome class, you will learn how to make your own bubbles, get inside a bubble large enough for your entire body, make stretchy slime bubbles, make floating bubbles that stay in midair, test the stretchability of bubble gum and design and test your own bubble wands. We will learn about surface tension, conduct bubble research, and make bubble art prints. If you love bubbles like we do, join this fun class!

In this class you will learn all about animals that live around you. We will explore the different habitats around the UHCL campus and collect some speciments. You will leave with a wildlife habitat photo book that you make! Bring your photographic eye for nature.

Calling all machine heads. In this course we will make simple machines ranging from a catapult to a racecar to a slingshot! Come see how much making these different machines can be and learn the science behind each! Race your car, test your catapult and take home your simple machines.

Weather breakout! The storm chasers are in danger and need to make it to safety! Can you help them? Four codes must be broken. With the activities in this escape room, students will read about Wild Weather Storms: Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Thunderstorms, and Blizzards and answer questions to solve the secret codes. Promotes critical thinking, problem solving, communication, and more.
