Kids U Pearland - Summer 2021: Technology Camp

Launch into the exciting world of game design with Intro to Game Design! Here students will learn the fundamentals of creating their own 2-D games with Stencyl, and become familiarized with game mechanics, computer programming, design, and GUI interfaces. But, most importantly, your student will have fun games that they can continue to customize after the camp has ended! Note: This camp requires a software download. The program is compatible with Windows, MAC, and Linux.

Learning computer programming can be intimidating, but with Python Code-a-thon we can transform your student into a coding rock star! This unique class does away with the shortcuts of early level technology education tools like block programming, and teaches program development with industry standard scripting techniques. Sounds complicated, I know, but don’t let that fool you, even if your student has never programmed before, Python Code-a-thon will have them coding their very first day. Note: This camp requires a software download. The program is compatible with Windows, MAC, and Linux.

Digital animation is the perfect way to bring stories and characters to life, and now your student can too. In Intro to Animation campers will be able to create animations on their home computer while learning the fundamentals and techniques that animators have been implementing for over 100 years. If you have a creative student with an eye for detail, this is the perfect class for them. Note: This camp requires a software download. The program is only compatible with Windows. Mac users can download and use Stykz 1.0 for Mac OS x.

This course uses Stencyl, the same program used in our game design course, to teach students how to create and edit their own original characters for video games.
