Summer 2023 July

The first stop on our journey are the cultures of ancient Mexico. We will draw inspiration from the mysterious Aztec ‘sunstone’, the giant stone heads of the Olmecs, and combine pop culture with pre-Columbian codices. Next, we take a look at the calaveras from Jose Posada and the influential muralism movement. Finally, we design color alebrije sculptures! Students will create works of art in clay, paint, oil pastel and more! All materials included. Class ends at noon, there will be no supervised time between classes. Instructor: Ms. Johnson
