Becoming an Outdoors Girl

Welcome to the outdoors! We offer the opportunity for girls to learn new skills associated with outdoor activities in a safe environment. Participants must be currently attending grades 6 through 12 or homeschool equivalent. All activities are outside.

UPDATE: This event is full. We are working on contacting waitlisted participants.

To register, create an account and add your child/children as an additional registrant(s) in "My Account" before registering for the camp. Please note that your child is not registered until you complete the free checkout process. Registrations left "In Cart" will be removed. Participants will need a Release Form before the start of the camp (may be submitted at check in).

2023 Surface Water Quality Monitoring Training

The partial course consists of a one-day training on water quality and hydrology monitoring. This partial course can serve as the required biennial Clean Rivers Program training for monitoring partners. This course will include classroom and field-based instruction designed to explain the theory and methodology of SWQM procedures with a hands-on component in local streams and bayous. One (1) Continuing Education Unit (CEU) is available for the partial course upon request.

The courses take place at the University of Houston-Clear Lake campus. The training facility is located at the Environmental Institute of Houston’s offices and includes demonstration and hands-on practice with state-of-the-art sampling equipment. The EIH trainers have extensive field experience with both the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) standard procedures. Course attendees will receive all necessary reference materials, and will receive a certification of completion at the end of the course.

Partial course registration is $250; early bird registration is $200. Early bird discount will be applied at checkout through February 6, 2023.

Payment may be made through online payment or check. If paying by check, print out your invoice at checkout and mail with your payment. Please provide prompt payment (must be received no later than March 3, 2023).
