Kids U - Summer 2019 : Technology Camp

Imagine creating your own online universe filled with avatars, 3D images animated graphics, online posters, and art work mash-ups. You will do this all by creating your own web page showcasing your new creations. No pens and pencils required the only thing you need to bring is your imagination. So come join the fun and become the master of your own universe! (NOTE: An email account will be required)

What if your camper could experience a graphic novel as it comes to life? By combining the interaction of video games with the storytelling power of a graphic novel, you could engage children (age 10-13) in computer science, basic programming skills and robotics for a complete STEM experience. Your adventure seeker will be absorbed in the multi-tiered underground world of Aegis; following a group of friends as they try to find a way to the surface. During this quest, they will learn and apply the Engineering Design Process, Narrative Writing, Pseudocode, Flowcharting, Robot Movement using Time and Wheel Rotations Programming Using Variables, Loops and Branching.

Come join the fun with Bloxels, a fun and exciting way to build, capture, design, play, and share your very own video games. Bloxels cultivates imagination while encouraging discovery and experimentation. Learn to realize your own video game ideas, build and animate original characters, develop villains, and add in power-ups.

This class will put students on the other side of the video game as creators - rather than simply playing games, students will take charge and use their ideas to assemble their very own video game. Students will learn that even very simple games require logic, artistic creativity, and programming skills. Students will develop games for the Microsoft Windows PC platform. Please furnish a USB 1 GB flash drive so that your child may continue their endeavors at home.

Is your student on the path to programming? In this course, students are introduced to programming with the help of Bee Bots and Apps like Daisy the Dinosaur and Hopscotch. This course does not require any previous programming experience - only a desire to learn and a curious nature.

This vital program for ages 11-14 covers the steps to gaining confidence, setting goals, problem solving, asserting yourself with ease, confident language, social IQ, courteous communication, dress and decorum, special event etiquette, invitations and correspondence, social etiquette, and dining etiquette. This camp engages learners and provides your child with the tools to feel confident in any situation.

This class will expose students to a world of creativity and inventions.Using electronic buildng blocks that are interchangeable in millions of different ways empower kids to invent anything - from a sibling alarm, to a wireless robot, to a digital instrument. Students will learn how to create, play, remix, and share inventions while building creative confidence, problem-solving and collaboration skills.
